Situation: An Indian manufacturer of Semolina products sought understanding on how to devise an effective marketing and promotional strategy to expand sales into the states of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Our Role: After conducting a mix of desk research and primary interviews with 120 respondents, Runaway Insights was able to obtain key insights on the following:
• Consumer attitudes and preferences w.r.t. factors such as cost, nutritional value, packaging and brand awareness.
• How certain incentive schemes play a role in Wholesalers’ and Retailers’ decisions to promote certain Semolina brands, as well as openness to engaging in promotional partnerships.
• What promotional mediums play a significant and effective role in driving brand and product visibility across different consumer segments.

The Result: Our client was able to devise a strategy that would effectively allocate their advertising costs through the right mediums to optimize their returns on investment and improve their footprint in these states.

Our Role: After conducting a mix of desk research and primary interviews with over 80 respondents across 4 major metro cities, Runaway Insights was able to obtain some of the following key insights:
• Current market scenario such as competitive landscape and market participants involved, degree of fragmentation, market stage, and growth forecasts.
• End-user scenario in terms of factors driving purchase of high quality edible ice and pain points when deciding whether to source ice through suppliers vs. produce ice in-house.
• Manufacturer and Supplier side analysis in terms of up-front capital and operational costs required to set up a business, pain points in relation to selling, and business sustainability in the long term.

The Result: Our client was able to obtain a bird's eye view of the industry and its limited potential for growth. These insights enabled them to adopt an initially small scale, guarded approach to entering the industry.
